You can't have too many clamps.

These are legs for some showcases I'm building.

The Othello Tunnels.

If you are passing Hope BC take an hour to do these amazing tunnels. I drove through them in the early eighties with friends and it was a wild experience. Now it is a very accessible and interesting park.

Gorilla Rock!

This was taken at Kalamalka Regional Park.

An expensive drive in the country.

This is the rock.

This is what the bad rock did.

Keith Floyd has died.

Keith Floyd was able to cook fabulous food on a windy moor using only a camp stove. He did it in front of a camera and was the host of the best series of cooking shows ever. He also managed to get snockered on every show. He always looked like he was having fun.

Sculpture ( Micro Architecture)

These are some sculptures I have been working on lately. They are multi media forms derived from contemporary stitch and glue boat building techniques. The average dimension is a cubic foot.

My paintings.

This is a sampling of the kind of painting I do. The medium is acrylic/latex on board. These five pictures are in private collections.

Stinkin' hot here in Vancouver.

It wasn't so long ago that it was like this....

Jessie!

Living large in Barcelona is my daughter Jessie. She also just spent a bit of time in Estonia or Eesti as the locals call it with her sister Kaja and the Tammemagis. There was a song festival (Laulipidu) in Tallinn that is held every five years and tens of thousands of people attend it. And they all sing! Like crazy!! It is all very civilized I understand.

How do you save a "dead" tree?

This cedar tree (or what is left of it) is a Stanley Park landmark. It is being buttressed and coddled into another life after mother nature blew a mighty gale and almost knocked her over. I think it is more interesting as it is now, what with the bracing, the fencing, the ladder, the steel plates and the duct tape, than it ever could be when it is made safe and sound again. They should just keep adding stuff to it until it becomes unrecognizable as a tree.

Tattoo!

My Kaja turned 17 today! Happy Birthday Kaja! She wanted a tattoo so we went down to Adrenaline in Vancouver and did the deed. The tattoo is her mom's signature. We hunted about the house for a good specimen and it turned up on Helle's old Save-On-Foods card. Ergo the other lettering on her wrist. They scan the artwork, scale it , print out a transfer and stick it on the body. Probably a good idea we didn't ink in the "Save-On" part. Bill from Adrenaline was very cool and very good!

Snake!

This beauty was five feet long and moving very slowly. It is in Baja California. Can anybody identify it?

Tool box.

I found this tool box in a shed behind my house. It was full of old and very rusty plumbing tools. It is made of wood and is held together with cigar box nails. The handle, hinges and hasp are made from  coat hanger wire and there is a hand sewn cloth chisel apron. I love this thing.

Full moon.

Chopping a house in half.

Whenever I do a reno on an old house I think of Gordon Matta-Clark.

Last week I saw William Gibson in the check-out line at IKEA.

A work in process.

This a pile of stuff , a midden really (soil, bits of concrete, wood and now cement and re-enforcing steel) in my neighbourhood that I have been driving past for at least 15 years. It is growing in size but at such a slow rate. What I find interesting about it is the care that is taken in containing the material. It serves no purpose other than being a place to store unwanted yard waste. Or perhaps it is a "bollard" to prevent vehicles from crashing into the carport behind it. Lately there has been some carefully added cement. I wonder how tall it will get?
